The prices of used wedding dresses can be fractions of their original cost. Most of the time you are able to get savings of up to 50 -75% off. The price will depend in large part on the condition of the dress. If it looks like it didn't even make it out of the store, the asking price will probably be higher. If it's a designer dress, expect to pay more as well. Designer dresses are hard to come by, and you are still paying significantly less for it than you would for a brand new dress so it's still a great deal. As more brides are considering buying used wedding dresses, the places that are offering them for sale are steadily increasing. The first place to go look for pre-owned dresses is a brick and mortar consignment shop. Remember to always ask the clerk if they have any wedding dresses there. Don't assume they don't carry any if you don't see it displayed in the store. Some wedding dresses can be quite bulky and are stored in the back.
Another option is to browse small boutiques. Some of the most lovely wedding dresses I have seen were not wedding dresses at all, just great dresses, usually white but not always. It is amazing what you can find when you venture away from the wedding dress department or shop. Some of our brides wait until they come to Hawaii and find real treasures that fit perfectly in one of the local shops. They are also perfect for a Hawaiian wedding, which brings me to my last criteria.

Beach Wedding Dresses. If you are planning to have a beach wedding, there are special considerations when you are choosing beach wedding dresses. First of all, you want to think of the heat out there on the beach. You don't want to be sweating the entire time in your wedding gown, so go with a dress that will be fairly cool. Choose a lightweight fabric that will help to keep you as cool as possible and consider styles such as strapless or sleeveless dresses. It's a good idea to go with dresses that are a bit less formal if you are getting married on the beach. The last thing you really want to do is have a long train that ends up dragging through the sand. Instead a ankle length gown, or even a shorter gown, will be a perfect option for your beach wedding. You'll still look breath taking, without having to worry about ruining your wedding gown on the beach.
Another process you may wish to try is try five Wedding Dresses and then selecting two of the best. These 'winners' would then be set against five new dresses. Continue the contest until you find the perfect dress. It can be tempting to say, ”Oh no! That other Wedding Dress might have been better.” Attempt to make sure you make your final choice from no more than five dresses. If you find yourself with too many to choose from you could be overwhelmed and end up selecting an inferior dress, or selecting the perfect dress but eternally asking yourself whether or not you made the best choice or not.
Forgetting they have to spend a whole day in the dress. This sounds obvious, but many people will try a dress on and decide to buy it without even trying to sit down in it. The wedding dress is for more than just the ceremony, so think about how comfortable it will be to wear while sitting down, eating and even dancing in. This is particularly important with corset style bodices that can be restricting, and fishtail dresses, which if too closely fitted can stop you being able to sit down at all! Buying a dress you don't love. This is YOUR dress. It should be the dress that you keep comparing all other dresses to (I still do this 4 years after my wedding, and so far, I still love my wedding dress more than any other!). Choosing a dress because it made your mother well up, or just because it has a coloured trim that will match the bridesmaid's dresses is really not advisable. You aren't planning to do this more than once, so make sure to buy the wedding dress of your dreams.
